Do you provide wheelchair-accessible transportation?
Yes. Transportation may be available for passengers using manual and power wheelchairs, subject to wheelchair dimensions, passenger needs, lift capacity, securement requirements, and available vehicle space.
Do you transport passengers who can walk or use a walker?
Yes. Ambulatory transportation is available for passengers who can safely enter and exit the vehicle independently or with limited assistance. Foldable canes and walkers may also be accommodated when confirmed during booking.
Is AccessWay an alternative to Access-A-Ride?
AccessWay is a private-pay transportation company serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Rides are requested directly through AccessWay and may be scheduled for wheelchair, ambulatory, senior, medical, and personal transportation.

Do you accept Medicaid or health insurance?
AccessWay currently provides private-pay transportation. The passenger, family member, caregiver, healthcare facility, or authorized booking party arranges and pays for the ride directly.
Can a family member or caregiver schedule the ride?
Yes. A family member, caregiver, healthcare facility, senior community, or authorized representative may request and pay for transportation on behalf of the passenger.
Do you provide one-way and round-trip transportation?
Yes. One-way trips, round trips, scheduled return pickups, recurring transportation, and certain waiting arrangements may be available. Return-trip details should be provided when requesting the ride.
How far in advance should transportation be scheduled?
Advance scheduling is recommended, especially for early-morning appointments, hospital discharges, dialysis transportation, airport trips, weekend rides, recurring appointments, and trips involving additional passengers. Same-day service is subject to availability.
